cooling tower turbidity

We have recently seen a large increase in the turbidity at our cooling tower. Normal NTI had been 8-12. Now at 32. How can I determine what is causing the increase,aside from consulting with our chemical treatment rep? Thanks

One of the reasons for high turbidity can be that scales are coming off the pipes(meaning ineffective corrosion treatment).Is there any construction happening in the vicinity?

Also, check to see if upwind of your tower is an excavator.
