It is frustrating that SWX converts files when opening the documents... not at time of saving them. This significantly increases the time it takes to open an assembly. Granted that ounce the files are converted, the files open quicker... If only they did this conversion at the time of saving the files, that would be more productive. imo...

...or overnight.

I'm not looking forward to this headache either. We're upgrading from 2008 to 2010 soon, and I haven't figured out yet how to convert the files in our PDM system (DBWorks). Not technically my responsibility either, but I don't expect it to happen on its own.

Chris,

When you are dealing with a current assembly it is not an issue to update the files, but when 300-400 components within the assembly are set in the PDMWorks vault as released and there is no saving the files and converting the vault has been regarded as an over-expense... (another issue) It becomes rather tedious.

Like I stated previously, if the files were converted at time of saving, this would not be an issue!!!!
