Hi,

I have chiller that has 752 tons capacity. How can I determine the mass of R12 refrigerant the chiller is charged with.

Thanks

From the two values you gave, you can't. Tables are published about the theoretical performance based on one ton (2000 btu/hr) of refrigeration by Dupont but these tables will not give you the mass value but will have the refrigerant circulation in lbm/min. Best bet is to get the manufacturers design specs. on your system.

After carefully reviewing the VM I found the refrigerant charging value in LBs. It is a very old manual and the information was embedded.

Thanks all

Powerman81, is your information based on a particular design and manufacturer?

Where are you getting the R12 to charge it or what are you doing with the existing R12?

Are you replacing it with R-134a or R-409A?
