Controlling Drawing Signatures

The company I work for presently uses AutoCAD 2000i and Inventor. We are currently developing a QA manual, and are also starting to supply customers with electronic copies of drawings. We are just now starting to address how to control electronically "signing" a drawing (drawn by, reviewed by, approved by, etc) and have concerns about how to make sure that the "signature" can't be changed or used by anyone other than the appropriate person.

I would appreciate any help and/or links to information.
 
By my way, I will prepare each designer and engineer¡¦s signature for graphical file and integrate into a database. That¡¦s way each one can control his graphical file via his own code.
