Contrasting color coat on Multi Layered coat

Dear all,

Greetings . Hope someone could help me on the query below

Currently, we have seen a paint specification revision from a user requesting contrasting color coating on Multi-Layered coat. This requirement is for valves. We have never seen this requirement before.CAN YOU PLEASE ADVISE THE TECHNICAL REASON FOR THIS REQUIREMENT.

A couple of reasons....
1 is that the painter can easily distinguish coverage of the subsequent coats.
2 is for destructive testing, you can easily distinguish layers...such as a tooke guage.
 
Have seen it for internal coatings in abrasive services. Quick visual gut-check for having eaten up half your coating...


Would agree you should ask the user if you're really curious though.
