Hi,

Does anyone have a way to calculate the contact stress of a ball in a circular cross-sectioned groove? I can do it for a ball in a spherical socket or a ball on a flat plate, but not for a ball in a round groove.

Thanks,
Chris

Roark 7th edition table 14.1 case 4 "General case of two bodies in contact" where you can input the radiuses of both elements in contact. The round grove has two radiues the first is the radius of the round grove and the second radius equals to infinity (straight line) in case of ball bearing the race radius is takes a negative sign.
