Hello,

I'm a new ProMechanica User but I know quite well the finite element method as I was a university researcher in that field and worked with, for example, Abaqus and Algor. I'm trying to learn Mechanica on my own and I have problems as I can't simulate contact between shell elements? Has anyone an idea of what my problem could be?

Thank you very much

Hi and welcome to the forum. I am only beginner to Mechanica too but if I remember righ we just can not use surface or shell models for "Contact Analysis".. Just use solids with some thickness..

Yes Miko is right, shell elements CANNOT be used where contact is occuring. contact elements can be defined between 3d and 2d solids only. This is a limitation.

try defining solids where contact is occuring.

and you can find useful informations about this
