concrete upsetting

for steel strut is clear : check has to be done for "upsetting" (blue arrow - hoping the term "upsetting" is correct.
my question : does it exist a similar check for concrete ?

It looks like you are talking about bearing stress btwn. a pin or bolt and the holes that the bolt goes through. And, of course you have to consider this in concrete too. In the case of steel, and the like, you have some yielding and deformation at the max. bearing stress area in your picture as the holes yield a bit and conform to the bolt shank. In the case of conc. you will get some crushing of the conc. at the same max. bearing stress area. And, you might get some splitting of the conc. at an member edge, and you might punch out some sort of a conc. wedge.
