Concrete Spec

Hi Guys

I've been asked for a concrete spec for a dosing bund which will contain calcium hyprochlorite but may contain sodium hyprochlorite in the future. Using BS8500 I'm not sure which design class to go for XC3/4 or perhaps DC4 but then again I may be completely wrong with both of them, i've decided on using a C32/40, 20mm aggregate, max w/c 0.40 but am unsure about the bit above.

Anybody got any ideas?!

Maybe you're not a great speller or maybe you were in a bumpy car, but I've designed a fair number of chemical containments and your question, except for the w/c ratio, doesn't make any sense.
If you're going to use jargon (dosing bund?), and area specific abbreviations (XC3/4?), don't expect a lot fo responses.

Yea it's a very bumpy car alright!!

By dosing bund I mean concrete chamber this is just the name we have given it on site, apologies. The chemicals are going to be introduced into the water supply at this location and the concrete chamber will be used to contain any spillages. If yoy forget about the abbreviations above is there something I should be particularly mindful of when specifying the concrete mix as I'm unsure that if I specify any mix it might deteriorate over time.

I'll check my files. but I suspect that it would be prudent to use a coating rather than trying to make a chemical resistant mix design.

I agree w/ JC.....a coating would be better.

Both sodium hypochlorite and calcium hypochlorite will produce weak acids in presence of moisture, but even worse, both will attack rebar as they seep into the concrete.

Use a good coating to prevent these materials from penetrating the concrete.
