I have seen the term "suitability factor" used on some U.S. concrete mixes, and on one concrete web site. I can not find any references to "suitability factor" in the ACI Manual of Standard Practice.
Will someone define this please?
Thank you very much.

Check out a book on mix design by someone called Ken Day. He has developed a mix design method whicxh uses a term called "mix suitability factor".

Can't remember much more at the mo' I'm afraid.

Thank you daddycool. Your response sent me off in search of Mr. Day and concrete, and I ended up at:

It appears to me that this is the latest book by Mr. Day, and Amazon is kind enough to let us flip through the book looking for "MSF" (mix suitability factor). This looks like exactly what I was looking for.

I would appreciate any further posts by anyone in the concrete industry who uses this MSF in their work. Does anyone actually include a required MSF in a concrete specification, for example? Would this be a good idea or not?
