I did a WRC 107 analysis of a nozzle connected to a shell for a client on Compress. However I received comments on my design telling me that my equipment is falling outside of the scope of WRC 107. Other packages indeed give this warning but Compress not for the same configurations. Can anyone tell me why? The beta value for my configuration is 0.652 for my equipment which falls off the graphs of WRC 107 (WRC 107 gives results for beta values up to 0.5). Can it be that Compress evaluates the stress at beta = 0.5 instead on extrapolation to 0.652? Taking values at 0.5 would seem to be more conservative.

Regarding extrapolating the curves, have you actually looked at those curves? They are highly non-linear, and I would be hard-pressed to extrapolate from them. If you're off the curves, then you are outside the applicability range.

Yes, Compress should warn you. The lack of a warning does not relieve you of your responsibility, though.
