Hello,

I want to design a 20 persons lift core wall.Whats the procedure to design lift core wall?How to design lift core wall as well as core beam.

Then someone provide core wall in lift core wall and someone provide 4 nos columns(L-shaped).Whats the procedure??Anyone please explain.

Are you a licensed engineer? If not, you'll need to hire one to do the design. This isn't something that can be explained on an internet forum.

Also, sketches never hurt.

I'll assume that you're enquiring about what goes into the design of a typical, concrete elevator shaft. Rough guidance:

1) The dimensions of the shaft, other than the wall thickness, will be specified by the architect and elevator supplier.

2) As the structural engineer, you'll determine the wind, seismic, and gravity loads to determine the structural demands placed on the shaft acting as a vertical cantilever of sorts.

3) Using the loads from #2, specify the wall thickness, concrete strength, zone reinforcing (flexure) and field reinforcing (mostly for shear).

As with all concrete flexural members, you'll need to check bending capacity, shear capacity, global stability, and local stability. And, if it's a high seismic lateral load resisting element, you may need to get into ductility and plastic hinge detailing as well. Those L-shaped columns in the wall are generally there for some or all of the following:

1) Flexural tension reinforcement.

2) Local stability of the wall edges when under compression.

3) Anchorage of the wall horizontal steel.

4) Probalby some other stuff that I forgot.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
