We all know that if you want to change the body colour in a component, you need to go into the part, not do it from the assembly..
We have a grip file that CAN DO this from the assembly, so it must somehow be able to bypass this annoyance.
My question is.... is there a way that this can be done with .vb code (from the assembly) or should I keep doing it with grip code?

The first statement is no longer true, if you have an assembly loaded and select the body of a component + Edit Object Display, there is a setting in the dialog which "Apply Changes to owning part".
The trick is to use selection filter to select the solid body, else you will select the "component object" and that option will be greyed out.

This change was done many years ago.

( No so sure that i answered your question.. :-)

Tomas
