Sometimes I use color sketches to add contrast to in detailed confusing part sketches (like the component silk layer of a pcb). How do I get part sketches to appear in color after I have inserted the part into a SLDDRW? When I insert my part into the drawing and turn on sketches they are never the color I set for them in the part file.

You need to setup Tools/Options/Colors, and also use layers.

Thanks for the reply. Could you elaborate a little? The Tools/Options/Colors seems in order (I read nothing that would seem to effect it). Are layers somehow required to show sketches in color?

It is more of a global setting. If you want to have certain sketches with certain colors, you will have to select each line and change the line color.
I have not found a way to have each part sketch come in as separate colors.

This should solve your problem

Color Display Mode. Click this tool to toggle between aesthetic colors (colors chosen in layers or with Line Color) and the system status colors (fully defined, under defined, and so on). Sketch endpoints and dangling dimensions are always in the system status color.

It seems like there has to be a way. It would be very odd that such basic functionality would be missing from the program.

Color Display mode didnt seem to do anything.

I tried the line color command and it didnt seem to do anything either. But even if it did it would take several hours to individually select the thousands of lines and circles and use the line color command.

It worked for me. But here is another way. In the drawing set up a layer with line type and color(make it the current layer). Then select the view where you want this shown. Find the sketch in the feature manager. Select the sketch then do a convert entities. Then you should have a outline of the sketch on the layer with a color.
