I am thinking of using ASME 2:1 elliptical tank heads for the construction of an electronics enclosure which will be submerged to a maximum depth of 1000M. I am seeking a source for the calculation of the yield point from positive pressure applied to the convex side of the head.

Ant help will be appreciated.
 
ASME Section VIII-I covers external pressure as well as internal.
 
I would also endorse the ASME Section VIII, Division 1 calculations. The failure mode of the 2:1 semi-elliptical heads is not yielding, as you might expect. Especially under external pressure (which appears to be your situation), buckling is going to be a primary failure mode.
 
Can you use hemispherical heads?

This is sort of the standard when going to these depths.

Another approach I've seen used is the reversed head but I don't know the depths it was used at.
 
I will make a spreadsheet for the hemispherical head, the elliptical dimensions made it my first choice. Thanks to all for the replies.
