Hello,
I have an installation where shielded 18/2 cable was used to deliver 24V power to a control actuator. The installer used the shield as the ground.

Is this code compliant?
If so, is it otherwise acceptable?

Thank you

Is your control circuit required to be grounded? Many (possibly most) are not. Typically, we might find isolated two-wire control circuits run exactly as you describe, with the shield grounded at one end only.

If you describe your circuit in much greater detail, you might get a more thorough answer...

Good on ya,
