We have a data center located about a mile inland from the coast. They are considering putting in an air-side economizer and we are concerned about the salt water effect on the IT equipment. I don’t know all of the project particulars.

Does anyone have any experience installing airside economizers in a harsh environment like this? What provisions were made? Air-to-air heat exchangers?

First admonition is to use copper fins on any air coils.

If its an IT center be very careful of humidity control with an economizer.
