At our small geothermal power plant we have been trying to mitigate the metal silicate scaling occurring at the brine pipelines from the Wellhead Separator to the ORC Binary Power Plant.
According to the initial calculations 6,6% of the NCG gas thrown from the top of the PP (96% of the NCG is CO2)should be able to decrease the brine PH level around one unit. We conducted a side stream test at one of the well platforms by injecting CO2 from bottles and noted that the scaling rate decreased on the sample coupons.
Now we are working on the design of reinjecting this 6,6% of CO2 into the brine line. The NCG temperature is 110 Cdeg and the pressure of the NCG before the dischaerge control valve is 3bar.g.
What type of compressor should we select to compress and transport the CO2 upstream the brine line for reinjection into the brine? Looks like we have to cool the gas and separate the condensate in all cases. Please see the attached preliminary P&ID.
