Hi, I have a few questions on the effects of settings available in clutch-lsd setup:

-What is the relationship between engine torque and static % lockup? As far as I understand any clutch diff will lock 100% (of the static setting?) when fully loaded. Is the static % lockup just the max distribution between the wheels?

-How much do ramp angle and preload affect initial lockup compared to each other?

-How much do ramp angle and % lockup affect abruptness of lock/unlock action in low grip situations like snow and gravel?

-What's the difference between tuning with diff components versus friction modifier? Does friction modifier affect ultimate % lockup or other areas of operation too?

Thanks.

clutch-lsd's are never 100% locked - like name says Limited Slip Diff - it slips
And it's never unlocked

Are You sure You don't ask Lock-right ??

There are many different implementation of LSD/locking rear axles. Some with clutches, so without.

Your question can not be accurately answered without know exactly which design you are referring to.

Hi, I have a few questions on the effects of settings available in clutch-lsd setup:

As noted, clutch type LSD's don't actually lock. Some slippage in normal use depending on the clutch pack pre load setting. A locking diff is by some mechanical means whereby the axles are physically "locked" together. NO slippage.

I use both types. I set the clutch type (TranX) for minimal slippage...just enough to make the car (Mini Cooper) manageable in the pits/paddock. The locker (Detroit Locker) is in a rear drive (Lotus Cortina) and functions as designed. Some do not like the Detroit cam and spring setup as it makes noise in a slow turn...I've grown used to it.
