Class A supply. 1

Greetings.

I need a AC/DC, 100W, 12V, global switching supply for an international product. Something like a open U-channel or possibly a finger safe model. I've just looked at about 120 different models/brands and I've not found A SINGLE ONE that is FCC Class A, (Conducted/Radiated Emissions), for use in a home oriented device. They are so rare,(virtually non-existent), that I am starting to suspect that none are and that you just need to add a common-mode line filter or something similar, in front of a Class B to reach Class A land.

Has anyone got any experience with this situation who could shed some light on the subject?

I suspect you will not find any. Same thing with VFDs. There are CE marks on most VFDs (put there blindly, I think) but have you ever seen a VFD approved for use in home applications?

Class A is more lax than Class B, most industrial power supplies are Class B. Were you looking for ClassA because you want something cheaper?

Whoa Jeff! Have I got it backwards?

I asked the thread question of a supply maker today and his answer was so bizarre that I couldn't believe it, and so I ignored it. But me having the A and B reversed would sure explain it.

OK, I just confirmed that...
