Hello,

I have a W24x68 steel beam. I have to make a slope for roof drainage. We will cut the beam in 2 and drop the center. I have a Moment of 420 kip*ft. How do you calculate the CJP weld to confirm its enough to join the beam ?

Thank you for any help

Why cut & weld if you can simply bend the beam?
And a CJP weld (if done correctly) is always as strong as the profile itself.
