My senario concerns a site on which the contractor whishes to build two warehouse structures. The geotechnical aspects are that it has 18m of made ground above non-shrinkable soils. The two foudation options are:
1 Piling and ground beams.
2.The use of vibrotreatment and then using trench fill foundations with ground bearing slabs.

The site also hosts high water demand trees in certain areas which would force the trench fill foundations below 2.5m. Would it be possible to pile these areas and then use vibrotreatment on the remainder of the site and utilize trench fill and ground bearing slab foundations.

Use one foundation system for a building - unless you like lots of foundation damage and angry phone calls, even a lawsuit. It's a false economy -

What has your geotechnical consultant said?

Where is the site located?
