Dear All
I want to sell chilled water to our customer, we will use energy metering system to measure energy absorbed by our customer. Can anybody recommend the type and accuracy of this metering system? Our chilled water flow rate is 4,500 m3/hr? This is to transfer cooling load of 12,500 RT(Refrigeration ton). The chilled water supply 5 deg C and return is 14 deg C.

I used energy transfer rate instead of flow rate for a similar application. As the temperature of chilled water varies it is better to go for a energy meter which continuously checks flow rate as well as temperature difference, calculates and totalizes the energy. We did it in a DCS system.

However Endress+Hauser and Krone Marshall have those type of meters with inbuilt temperature transmitters and processors for calculation.

A Vortex Flow Meter with 0.5% maximum error (for liquids) is relatively cheaper and better option in your case. You should take care of sizing by avoiding redundancy (general, I mean)
