Anybody share what's the best alternative cheaper material for 304 stainless steel. My application is just a bracket with springback action.

Thanks.

If the material is stronger can you make it thinner?
This will be the only way to save significant money.
Either 201 or one of the lean duplex (2101, 2102, 2202) alloys can give you a lot more strength and similar or better corrosion resistance.

You have not mentioned the environment that would cause corrosion so it is nighe impossible to recommend a substitute.

Thanks for the replies.
Tried to quote 201 from supplier and see the result this next few days.
@ stanier, application is indoor with fair ventilation and air conditioning, subject with metal contacts(CRS) and heat from pcb boards.

If you don't make it lighter and take advantage of the higher strength you won't save enough to make it worthwhile.
