I am doing an analysis on a building from the mid 1960's. I have a floor framing plan that references Ceco "14W4" or "14H4" bar joists. Span is 20ft. Can anybody tell me what the allowable uniform load might be or point me to a site that has a catalog for these joists?

If these are 14H4 joists, a common nomenclature for open web joists, the 60 year Steel Joist Institute manual, for a 20 foot span, shows:

a maximum resisting moment of 212,000 in.#,
a maximum end reaction of 3500#,
a total load of 350 plf,
and an L/360 live load of 245 plf.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick response. The set of plans is very old and it looked like the "14H4" call-out might have been "14W4". Wasn't sure if this was some sort of proprietary nomenclature for Ceco joists.
