Folks,
Is there a difference in performance between cast-in-place concrete and shotcrete for an elevated pool? The question is specifically for the concrete walls.

The drawings are spec'd for shotcrete, but the contractor wants to pour them in place for tolerance and finishing reasons.

Overall quality is more controllable and (usually) better with cast-in-place. Shotcrete can be highly variable.

If all your corners are square, I would prefer it to be cast in place. But if you are rounding the base to wall junctions and the wall corners, shotcrete is the way to go. Either way can provide the same quality of concrete, provided the workmanship is good.

crack control is good with shotcrete because of low w/c ratio. make sure your contractor doesn't soup up the mix when he pours it or you could get cracking.
