When you choose a cardinal point that is not at the centroid of your section does SAP still apply the mass of the section to the centroid or at the selected cardinal point?

I think you should try it yourself.

Model a simple beam of known mass. Run to find frequency and mode shape, you can also display modal forces. then cardinal it, repeat. The difference if any should clear your doubts.

I bet the mass is shifted.
