got myself UG at home, cant get it started as it cannot find "Vendor Daemon" which is important, but completely elusive.

anyone seen this problem before? or will i leave it till tomorrow and ask the good sales people, which im guessing will take a good 3 or 4 days and being held on hold indeterminantly

i've also been trying to install ug at home (nx version) but i'm having problems with the TCP/IP connection. i'm not using my ethernet card, as i have a seperate wireless card in my pc. i've installed the microsoft loopback adapter but still nothing. when i "ping" my computer it times out because there's no TCP/IP communication.

any ideas?

FYI... it turns out that there's a glitch in the microsoft windows xp home edition and ug nx, which requires you to delete a file (190) in the registry editor...

start
run
regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
software
Unigraphics Solutions
UG
190

....and that's probably why UGS doesn't support XP Home Edition in the first place.

XP Home is not supported, but there should be nothing in it that would prevent UG from loading. I think it is more of an issue with drive formatting, as most XP home systems have FAT formatted drives and UG does require NTFS formatted drives.

As to the registry keys, those are for NX1. Each version of UG loaded on your machine would have a set of registry entries under new version numbers, 190, 200, 210, etc.

Come to think of it, I've installed UG on my XP Home computer since v18 and I've never had to delete anything from the registry....maybe some leftovers from a bad install or incomplete uninstallation.
