Can Pro E show text on the surface of a part without extruding into that surface. If so, how can it be done?
Also if this text can be placed on the surface, will it show on the part when a drawing is created? This would eliminate placeing the text while in the drawing.

Thanks,
Danoo

If the surface is planar, create a sketch on that face with the text in it and leave the sketch visible. If the surface is not planar, create the sketch with text, extrude it as a surface extrusion and create a intersection curve between the surface extrusion and the surface to project it onto. Leave the intersection curves visible.

You can also create a datum curve, create the text in that feature and then Project or Wrap the datum curve onto the surface.

You can do this with a Cosmetic Sketch. By doing so you can have the Sketch Text show as a solid fill or cross hatched. They also allow you to use parameters in the sketch text dialog. so you don't have to retype parameters.

Cosmetic groove is another option you can use.
