Can I use a WPS previous 1

Can I use a WPS under asme B31.3 used with the same client years ago.

My client indicates that it must be re-qualified.

Not exactly what you are looking for...but shows requalification is not required.

If your customer has time limits to requalify a WPS (some do), that's one thing. But if they are saying ASME has a time limit, that's not correct (other than the 1962 limit)

B31.3 section 328.2.2. seems to apply here. No mention of maximum time, but

The key phrase is "subject to the approval of the owner".

It seems you don't have that approval.

So can you use it - Yes
Does the owner/client accept this - Up to him/her. See what the welding specification / construction specification says.

I've often seen a 6 month time window imposed on WPS qualification testing.

I think those clause got written in by the testing companies....

328.2.2 deals with a WPS qualified by others...This is there own procedure.

It only says they "used" a WPS, not that they created it....

Either way I think the point stands - the client wants one thing but hasn't said where this requirement was specified.
