Hello Team,

I have a question on the attached picture. CAn I make Datum "A"(Dai. 40) as MMB to get DAtum Shift to facilitate Assembly of bigger Diameter (Dia.90) with counterpart during Assembly?. This is Sheet Metal part.

2020Learner,

Yes, datum feature A could be referenced at MMB. There are examples with contoured datum features in Y14.5-2009 and Y14.5-2018.

Evan Janeshewski,

Thank you for the reply.
That means, My Gauge pin at MMB at Datum A is Dia39(VC= 40-0.5-0.5= 39), When this diameter reaches worst case deviation of minimum material boundary of DIa 41 (40+0.5+0.5= 41mm), Radially i will get 1mm DAtum shift at Datum A all around so that Bigger Dai.90mm(Datum C) will be flexible to assemble with Counterpart.
Is my calculation is correct?

Thanks,
