Calculating wind base shears?

We are a very small architectural firm here in the south. We mainly do residential work, but got a little pool house to work on in a community. In the appendix B, they are asking for the wind base shears, Vx=? and Vy=?. An engineer showed me a very easy calculation for this once a very long time ago, but I can't remember it. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks.

Calculate the wind pressures using the simplified method given in ASCE 7-05

You need to know the design wind speed (there is a map in ASCE 7), the roof height, the Exposure Category (probably B or C), and the importance factor (probably 1)

Next determine if it is near a hill (Kzt) and than determine the lambda factor for exposure and height. Than use figure 6-2 or figure 6-3 depending on the whether you want components and cladding or main wind. Multiple the pressure by the area and that is your base shear, repeat in the other direction.
