Am basically developing a computer software for design of post tensioned slabs.

Now, would it be wise to program for a cable profile to balance the bending moment due to dead loads? Can such an option be implemented?

To be a usefull program it must be interactive. The amount to balance depends on many factors.

Yes, but balancing for the dead load could be the one to start with.Other, option could be to balance based on the bending moment distribution?Could you suggest some factors?

Balance 80% of the dead load of slab only for a starting point. After that the engineer will have to adjust for the specific condition.
