Hello,
Shopping for a new PE Stamp, Digital one specifically (even though I can likely draw one up in cad fairly easily).
Anyway I immediately came to this site ( https://www.pestamps.com/product/california-professional-engineer-bear-stamp/ ) which has the typical CA stamp, but also has the California bear in the middle. While I would love to have this, I was not sure this is legit/legal. I purused through the PE Act and board requirements. They seem to only have information required to include (Name, number, "Professional Engineer" and authority (S.6764 PE Act), but does not forbid any other images, such as a bear (or platypus). I would argue the bear does accurately represent the authority of this license, but have not seen this before. Though I have seen in WA state image of George Washington.
Curoius of other CA PE's reaction, knowledge of this.

Thanks,

I think the seal is neat... but would check with the local association to see if valid; I think it complies, but best to check. It would be nice for Manitoba to have a 'buffalo' on it.

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

I agree with dik. I like the bear, even though California hasn't had a native grizzly since 1922. I might just order an electronic version. One thing I noticed is that this company only offers 1-1/2" and 1-5/8" diameter for physical stamps. When I bought mine in 1982 (still going strong), I was able to order a 2" version, which I like a lot better than the smaller sizes.

There is a discussion about the bear stamp on engineerboards, found here:

One response from someone that works in the CA licensing department:
"As long as the seal meets the minimum requirements described in Board Rule 411, you're good to go. Make sure your name matches what you've provided to the Board. No abbreviations unless that's how it is officially recorded with the Board. Link to Board Rules

Well I went ahead and ordered the dwg. Figured I could just delete the bear if needed.
I did email the Board about this, they said, as I expected, they do not have restrictions on additional content, just that the minimum standard of things to include are satisfied, and a warning against using any copyrighted imagery.
