Hey, does anyone know how to find the critical buckling load for a 'notched' column supported with springs. I know how to do it without the notches but stuck on how to solve this. If possible I would like to discretise it intro different sections with, and also aware this might need a numerical solution which I'm happy to do Thanks for any who can help!

Is this some kind of homework assignment?

No, its part of a design optimisation problem I'm trying to do for some biomedical research, I'm not a structural engineer that's why I came here for some help

A simple beam element FEM would work well for this. Much easier than an analytical solution.

This is a lot trickier than most undergraduate work... I'd likely use FEM with good boundary conditions and springs as SWC suggested.
