Dear Abaqus users,

I'm currently working on the importation of boundary condition amplitudes (extracted from a photogrametry system after laboratory tests) in a composite shell model, and I need to know how I can do the following constraints/interaction on the model.

The edges of the model are divided in several partitions edges. I would like to apply a displacement to each partition edge end, so the displacement of this partitioned edge is balanced between the two displacements applied.

Schematically, seen from the side of the shell in the XZ plane this would give:

^
z

1 2 3 4
ô_._._._._ô_._._._._ô_._._._._ô x>
a b c

with:
ô: partition & reference point were the amplitude is applied
_._._._: partitioned edge containing the element nodes '.'

For example, how can I constrain the edge 'a' so the displacements of the nodes of edge 'a' remain aligned with RP1 & 2 according to the displacement of the RP 1 & 2? Similar question with the edge 'b' and the RP 2&3?

I tried to do that with the equations and ties but it was not successful. Some nodes were over kinematically overconstrained...

Any help welcome.

Best regards.

You may be able to do this with *COUPLING.
