Bored pier adjacent existing pier

Hi all
New pier being bored to adjacent existing house pier.
Red clay and sandstone soil. Stands firm when cut.
I am familiar with the 45deg zone of influence when carrying out such work , our engineer did not even bat an eyelid. Will prop bearer mechanically to mitigate risk.
What is your professional opinion?
Is the risk of foundation collapse into bored hole minor in such a situation?
