Book on foundation design in poor soil/ wet environments

I'm looking for a good foundation reference book. I've got foundations (deep or shallow) to design for freestanding steel towers that will be in areas that can flood and be underwater by a few feet; also in a high seismic zone with possible liquefaction. I'm not experienced doing foundation designs in these environments. Any ideas? Thanks.

Given the above, agreed. However, if you want to explore the topic - one book that comes to mind is Zeevaert's Geotechnical Engineering in Poor Soils - an oldie but goodie (although I might not have the name exactly right). Another book that I find quite useful is M.J. Tomlinson's Foundation design and Construction. You can also google Poulos and Piled-mat Foundations. He has a couple of good papers on the use of piled-mats.

There are many levels to understanding foundation design. There is the geotechnical aspects then the structural design. In the geotechnical portion, you need to be versed in lab testing, field observation, soil mechanics analysis, and on and on..

So tell us your background in geotechnics and we will give you titles that are not too easy and also not too complex. Sometimes, the strength governs the design, other times the settlement and yet other times lateral loading or moment about weak axis will govern.

As mentioned above, you will still need to follow the soils report, but the books will help you "see" the soils recommendations.
