bonding steel to steel

Which bonding material would you select for attaching a flat plate with a bumpstop on to another flat plate. The loads would hopefully be only compressive shock.

I don't have time to pickout a specific adhesive but we use a lot of loctite products for bonding dissimiliar materials. Check out the links and loctite has a great technical staff.

Do not go for an epoxy type adhesive ---- too brittle and very soon fail. Clean both surface with grinder or shotblaster then use a Belzona " magic rubber" type compound. With suitable primer it is your best choice. I can check the product list and advise exact type if needed. Devcon do an exact equal at half the price.If you do not know these products then put a thin veneer of rubber between your surfaces and glue it with a propriety rubber adhesive like SC2000 from TipTop Rubber at Leeds, Call me if neede further help DW

Thanks everyone, but we've changed the design and are using a bolted stop.
I'll bear all those comments in mind for future though.
