Dear All,

I have few quick questions:

1. I would like to apply preload into a bolt to simulate HSFG bolts.

I created 3 steps: PRELOAD, FIX LENGTH, APPLIED LOAD. My bolt is M20 and I would like to apply 145 000N. Is the preload applied as N/mm^2 or overall force i.e. am I supposed to input 145 000 N as preload or 145 000N/ 314mm^2 ??

2. The purpose of the research is to study a behaviour of HSFG bolt with clearance of 2mm, 4mm and 8mm and compare load vs slip. Say I have M20 bolt but 28mm hole. Do I still create interaction between concrete and the bolt as friction i.e. once the preload * friction is overcome then I will get slip and the bolt starts to bear on the concrete with frictional interaction? Would that be correct?

Thank you

Martin

Hi Martin,

For your first inquiry, I think you have to apply a force not stress. The second inquiry is not clear to me
