We have alot of boiler tube left over from commissioning of our HRSG and would like to preserve it for use in the future. Does anyone have any advise about what is the best method to do this ?
!st off you need to keep the papers from the tube somewhere. All of the paperwork that identifies the the material and where it was made. The tube needs to be maked with these references as well.
Keep it indoors, and cap the ends. That is the basics of what will keep it OK. But to slow down the oxidation, add some desicant. Just make sure to remove it before use.
I would add a Vapor Phase Inhibitor packet to each tube then use the end caps. Depending on your location your tubes need to have an external rust preservative of be kept in a condition air enviroment. This means the metal temperature should be kept above the dewpoint.
Here are some people that I’ve had great results with on corrosion protection.
