I am designing a 4 story building and using TJI joists. When stiffening the joists or providing backers for the webs of the TJI's is it typical for blocking to be special ordered to match the specific size of the space or for the blocking to be 2x and stick out from the sides of the TJI edges? Also, if the blocking does stick out what can I use to accomodate shear transfer between floors when the joists bear on walls?
