Where is the best place to use blasted rock for fill in a residential subdivision. Streets, back yards etc.

Maybe your residential subdivision needs a breakwater. Or if you carry out secondary blasting and bring in a crusher and power screen this will be ideal for concrete aggregates.

But if no quarry equipment I think the best idea is to sell it to pws for his 200 yards of bog road.

Blasted rock can be used for a fill in almost any location if blasted, placed and compacted properly. Please note the word properly. If any of these steps are done improperly you have a disaster waiting to happen and it doesn't matter where on your site that you place the material you will have problems.

The items to watch for are: blast the material to a well graded consistency; load, haul, dump and spread the material causing as little segregation as possible; compact the material in lifts of about 24-inches or less (this means that the maximum particle size should be 18-inches); and wait until the settlement of the fill and underlying materials have slowed to an acceptable rate prior to constructing improvements on the fill.

Now from a practical standpoint for a lot of residential developers, all of the above means that a blasted rock fill is cannot be used. That is an issue for you to discuss with them.

Good luck.

I would place (waste) it in areas where you expect no roadways or structures to be built.
