Hello everyone,
I'm modeling near-field blast load on sandwich carbon fiber composites. For that, I have certain questions
1. Will using the CONWEP model be useful to model the blast load?
2. In an experiment, a steel plate is kept above the layers of sandwich material and blast load is given on the opposite side. For which, the plate stopped increasing the weight of the plate to a certain mass. But, numerically it is not stopping. I have modelled the exact boundary condition imposed, modelled the blast load using CONWEP model and provided contact constraint between the sandwich composite and steel plate.
Kindly anyone help with these queries.
Thanks in advance

There are different ways to model blast in Abaqus (I guess you are using this software) but CONWEP is the easiest one and often sufficient.

It’s best to use general contact instead of contact pairs for such simulations. This way, all the possible contact interactions (including self-contact) will be accounted for.

Thank you for the reply.
Well I'm using Abaqus software to model the sandwich material. But the experiment of steel plate above the sandwich composite which comprises of ceramic, honeycomb and composite. In that, I'm keeping the steel plate above the composite and blast load is provided on ceramic side. While I'm providing, surface contact constraint with the interaction property of rough between the composite and steel plate. The plate keep on moving without getting stopped, even after increasing the weight of the steel plate. I also provided the gravitational load only for the steel plate, even then it provides no difference between the former and later. Kindly provide me some insights, that where I'm going wrong while modelling it.
