Looking for aerogel data under blast condtions (high shock pulse). Anyone aware of any tests or data that indicate that aerogels may provide good attenuation or mitigation of blast effects?

Isn't that a contradictory use?

I though aerogels were rather "leaky" by their very nature and therefore, it would seem that even a moderately thick layer of aerogel would not do much to slow down a pressure wave.

Actually, there is limited data that suggests that they perform well in this application. Looking for more information.

Talk to Mario Saba at Aspen Aerogels. He may help you.
