Blank Component

I have a detailed view in which I wish to blank components. Neither component Display nor Edge Display blanking seem to work. Is there a view option I need to reset or what?
 
Detailed views just scale the display of the parent view. You cannot independently blank components or edges. As a work around you can make an independent scaled partial view and fake the view circle and arrows.
