Copy Paste a component in assembly

New in Creo 2.0 Im doing a Copy Paste component in assembly. When one participant in my class used copy paste on a cable tie component to create another on this one the part pasted was not showing. You could select it in the model tree and see it but invisible. Not on a layer either.

Ideas?

Simply assembling the component worked.

Creo 3.0
 
Were they in a simplified rep at the time?
