Are there any ASME restrictions on installing an expansion bellows (or even metal/flex hosing) after the pressure relief valve, on a Sec I - 900 psi boiler?

I don't know of any ASME restriction. It's generally not a good idea to subject flex joints to sudden pressurisation. Having said that, most of the UK's AGR nuclear power stations have flex joints on the main steam PSV outlets. Yuk.

Thank-you. That was my thinking, as well as my off-the-cuff response to an off-the-cuff question.

I am just taking a proactive approach to the common response "Where does it say this in the code? Prove it". Some people just don't seem to accept the notion that the codes are not design guides, and prefer everything in black and white verbatim from "The Code", and don't agree with "generally accepted good engineering design".
