Bearing press fits?

If I have a bearing and want to mount it in a wheel, what diameter and tolerance do I machine the hole in the wheel to? Obviously it depends on the bearing, etc., but does anyone have a link to this information? I also have Machinery's Handbook (28th ed.) but haven't found this information in there. It has lots of info on shaft/hole sizes for bearings but not mounting hole tolerancing. Thanks a lot!

McMaster does not make bearings, they just sell them. Check out SKF, FAG, or Timken. ISZ

One (ball?) bearing in a wheel?

When reading the engineering section of the SKF catalog for fits (interference in the wheel, half thou clearance on the axle probably) I'd also be check to see what my bearing was going to think of any moment loading its going to see.

Buy the bearings from McMaster-Carr and then call the bearing mfg or check their website. This way you'll have the part number to reference. The supplier can also tailor their reccomendation based on the material of your housing and shaft.

Great thing about McMaster-Carr is their return policy (provided you're okay with paying for shipment).
