Battery help

I bought my little girl a scooter the charger went out.
The scooter has 2x12 volt 4.5ah barries running series.
The charger is a 24v 400ma charger takes about 8 hours to fully charge the batteries.
This is second time charger went out it is very cheaply made.
Wondering if i can choose a 24v charger to charge the battery faster i mean im paying $50 from schooter factory for that 8 hour charge.

That sounds reasonable, the charger you picked looks as though it will do the job.

What does your operator's manual recommend for chargers. The 400mah is similar to a trickle charge which in effect fully charges the batteries during an 8 hr period. You can increase the charging rate but not too high as the batteries may get too hot. I would probably look at a 1ah charging rate.
Also check the battery voltage as they may no longer hold the charge just like a car and could be the reason for the frequent charger replacement. fully charge the batteries,check voltage after charge and recheck batteries a few more every hour or so and for loss of voltage.

Didnt come with operator's manual :/
Battiers are good ive tested them.
Soneil charger makes me feel safe i dont want to be wroung on this.
Reverse polarity protection - provided
Short circuit protection - provided
Over-Voltage Protection - provided
Over current protection - provided
AC Surge Protection - provided
Soft start and stop: Starts and stops gradually
Im going to try and find a 24v charger thAt will allow me to change amps.

As chicopee says don't get a charger that's too big. Monitor the case temperature for the first few charges.
If there is some way of charging the 2 12V batteries in parallel, that would give you a better selection of chargers. Make sure whatever you buy has transformer isolation, perhaps incorporate a polarised plug and switch so your Daughter can safely connect/disconnect it by herself.
